For our flagship products, we primarily use two core material streams, both chosen for their reduced ecological footprint. First, our polymer benches are crafted from post-consumer and post-industrial recycled plastics. This includes items like recycled milk jugs and detergent bottles. By giving this material a new, long life, we divert significant waste from landfills and oceans, reducing plastic pollution and the demand for virgin petroleum-based plastics. These benches are exceptionally durable, weather-resistant, and require no painting or staining, eliminating the need for maintenance chemicals over their decades-long lifespan.
Second, for our wooden benches, we source timber exclusively from forests certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC). This guarantees that the wood comes from responsibly managed forests that prioritize biodiversity, protect wildlife habitats, and support local communities. We treat the wood with non-toxic, plant-based oils to preserve its natural beauty safely.
Beyond materials, our design philosophy focuses on longevity. A bench that lasts for 30 years negates the need for multiple replacements, conserving resources and energy in the long run. At the end of its life, our recycled plastic benches are themselves recyclable, and our FSC wood can be composted or repurposed, aiming for a circular model.
