That's an excellent question! Living by the sea is wonderful, but the salty, humid air can be brutal on outdoor furniture. I'm happy to share how our benches are specifically engineered to fare exceptionally well in coastal areas.
The primary challenge is salt spray, which accelerates corrosion and breaks down materials. We combat this at the core material level. Our benches primarily use marine-grade aluminum, which contains alloys highly resistant to saltwater corrosion. For wooden components, we select naturally durable species like teak or thermally modified ash, and treat all wood with penetrating, water-repellent sealants.
The protective finish is our second line of defense. We apply a high-quality powder coating to metal parts. This finish is far superior to standard paint, as it is thermally bonded to create a hard, uniform shield that prevents salt and moisture from reaching the metal substrate. For hardware, we use stainless steel (grade 304 or 316 for severe exposures) to prevent rust stains and failure.
Maintenance becomes simple. A periodic rinse with fresh water to remove salt residue is often all that's needed. For wood, a light annual cleaning and reapplication of sealant will maintain its beauty and protection for years.
So, while no furniture is entirely maintenance-free in such harsh conditions, our benches are built to resist the elements, minimize upkeep, and provide lasting, beautiful seating for your coastal view. You can enjoy the ocean breeze with confidence, knowing your bench is designed for it.
