Common Problems and Effective Solutions for urban benches

What's the best way to clean these benches to keep them looking new?

Keeping your benches looking new doesn’t have to be a chore—it just takes the right approach. Whether your benches are wood, metal, or plastic, regular cleaning with gentle methods is your best friend. For wooden benches, mix a few drops of mild dish soap with warm water, dip a soft cloth or sponge, and wipe gently. Avoid harsh chemicals or pressure washers—they strip the finish and cause cracks. Rinse with a damp cloth and dry immediately to prevent water stains. For metal benches, especially wrought iron or aluminum, use a solution of vinegar and water (1:1 ratio) to remove grime and prevent rust. Apply with a soft brush, then rinse and dry. Plastic benches are the easiest—just use a mix of baking soda and water for stubborn dirt, or a standard all-purpose cleaner. Don’t forget to scrub between slats and under edges where dust hides. Once clean, apply a thin layer of furniture wax (for wood) or car wax (for metal) to create a protective barrier. This simple routine every three months will keep your benches gleaming like the day you bought them.
