For Hot Climates & Direct Sunlight
We use materials that resist thermal expansion and UV damage. The frame is typically constructed from powder-coated aluminum or galvanized steel – metals that stay cool to the touch compared to dark-coated steel. The slats are made from high-density polyethylene (HDPE) or recycled wood-plastic composite, both of which absorb far less heat than natural wood or metal. These materials also block UV rays, so they won’t fade, become brittle, or develop splinters over years of sun exposure. Even in desert-like conditions above 110°F, the bench surface remains comfortable to sit on, and the frame won’t warp or lose structural integrity.
For Cold Climates & Freezing Temperatures
In sub-zero environments, many materials become brittle or crack due to freeze-thaw cycles. Our benches avoid this by using flexible polymers and treated metals. HDPE and composite slats maintain their flexibility down to -40°F, so they won’t crack when ice forms. The aluminum frame is resistant to rust and won’t become as brittle as steel in extreme cold. We also seal all fasteners and joints with stainless steel hardware and rubber gaskets to prevent water ingress – where freezing water could expand and split the material. Additionally, the bench’s design includes slight drainage angles so water and ice slide off rather than pooling.
Finally, we test every model in climate chambers from -20°C to +60°C to ensure stability. The result: no swelling, splitting, or fading. You can place these benches in a roasting park in Arizona or a snowy plaza in Minnesota, and they’ll look and function like new for years.
