This allows you to sit at the same level as someone on the bench, making conversation and shared use natural. We also follow ADA guidelines for accessible routes, so benches are placed on firm, stable surfaces with no abrupt changes in level. That said, we recommend checking individual park or street locations, as older models may still lack this feature. When we install new benches, we prioritize “pull-up space” by leaving at least 2 feet of clear pavement next to the seat.
