Great question. If you’re planning to install urban benches on concrete surfaces, you’re probably wondering whether you’ll need to drill holes on-site or if the bench comes ready to bolt down. The short answer is: yes, most of our urban benches come pre-drilled with anchor holes specifically designed for bolting into concrete.
Here’s what that means for you in practical terms. Each bench model in our urban collection is manufactured with two to four pre-drilled holes – typically located on the mounting plates or the bottom of the legs. These holes are sized to accommodate standard wedge anchors or sleeve anchors (usually 1/2 inch or 5/8 inch diameter). We also include a template or mark the exact anchor positions on the bench frame, so you can line them up with your concrete layout without guessing.
A few details worth noting:
- Hardware included? Most benches come with stainless steel bolts and washers, but the concrete anchors themselves are usually not included because the choice depends on your concrete thickness and surface finish. We do recommend using corrosion-resistant anchors for outdoor durability.
- Drilling into concrete? You still need to drill into the concrete, but the bench holes are already there, so you save an entire step. No need to bring a drill to the bench – just drill the concrete, set the anchors, and bolt down.
- Vandal resistance? Yes. The pre-drilled design allows you to use tamper-proof bolts or security anchor systems, making the bench harder to remove or steal.
- Installation tips: Use a concrete drill bit slightly smaller than the anchor diameter. Clean the holes of dust, then insert the anchor and tighten the bench down with a torque wrench to spec. If your concrete is uneven, a thin leveling shim under the mounting plate helps.
So whether you’re outfitting a public park, a transit stop, or a private plaza, our urban benches are ready to bolt into concrete. Just bring your anchors and a good drill. If you’re unsure about which anchor size fits your model, feel free to DM me with your bench specifications – I’ll send you the exact hole dimensions and recommended anchor types.
