When it comes to installing urban benches in rainy climates, durability against moisture is a top concern. I’m happy to explain how our benches are engineered to resist both rot and mold. First, we use only marine-grade aluminum or powder-coated steel for the frame—these materials never absorb water, so rust and rot simply aren’t issues. For the seating surface, we choose high-density polyethylene (HDPE) or sustainably sourced hardwoods treated with a deep-penetrating water repellent. This treatment seals the wood fibers, preventing moisture from seeping in. Every joint and fastener is stainless steel, eliminating galvanic corrosion. Additionally, our bench slats are spaced with slight gaps to allow airflow and rapid water drainage, stopping puddles from forming. The underside of the seat is also sloped slightly to shed water away. We test our benches in high-humidity chambers for 500 hours to ensure no mold growth. In real-world conditions across cities like Seattle, London, and Singapore, these benches have shown zero rotting or mold after years of exposure. So, you can confidently place our benches in the rainiest of climates—they’ll stay solid, clean, and safe. If you ever see a little dirt buildup, just a quick rinse with a hose keeps them looking new. Our goal is to combine aesthetic comfort with weather-proof engineering.
