Great question! I’m happy to help clarify this for you.
Most of our standard park benches do not come with a pre-applied anti-graffiti clear coat. Instead, they are typically finished with a durable powder coat or stain that provides excellent weather resistance and a smooth look. However, we do offer an optional anti-graffiti clear coat upgrade for those who want extra protection.
If you choose our anti-graffiti coating, it is applied during the manufacturing process—not separately by you. This layer acts as a sacrificial barrier, making it much easier to remove spray paint, markers, or stickers without damaging the underlying finish. For high-traffic public spaces like parks, schools, or transit hubs, I’d say it’s absolutely worth considering.
If you decide not to add it at the factory, yes, you can absolutely apply an anti-graffiti clear coat yourself. Many commercial-grade spray-on or brush-on coatings work well over powder-coated metal or treated wood. Just make sure the bench surface is clean and dry before application, and follow the product’s instructions carefully.
A quick heads-up: DIY coatings may not last as long as factory-applied options, and you might need to reapply them annually or after deep cleaning. So if longevity and ease of maintenance are your priorities, going with our factory upgrade is the simpler route.
Still unsure? Feel free to tell me more about your specific environment (weather, traffic, budget), and I can help you choose the best setup for your benches.
