That’s a great question, and I’m happy to give you a straightforward answer. Most of our outdoor benches come in a partially assembled or flat-pack format — meaning they arrive with the major components already built (like the seat and back frame), but you will need to attach the legs, armrests, or side brackets yourself.
Why don’t we ship them fully assembled? Two reasons: safe shipping and quality. Fully assembled benches are much heavier and more prone to damage during transit, and they can be too large for standard delivery vans. By shipping them as kits, we ensure your bench arrives in perfect condition and fits through your doorway or gate.
What tools will you need?
- A Phillips-head screwdriver or power drill (most Important)
- An Allen key (usually included in the package)
- A rubber mallet (for aligning wooden parts, if needed)
How much time should you expect?
Typically, assembly takes 30 to 45 minutes for someone comfortable with basic DIY tasks. If you’re new to assembling furniture, allow about an hour — no rush. Each bench comes with clear, step-by-step instructions and labeled hardware packs.
One more tip: Lay a soft blanket or cardboard on your patio before assembly to avoid scratching the finish, and keep all screws loose until the final structure is aligned, then tighten everything.
If you prefer a completely tool-free option, we do offer a limited selection of pre-assembled, ready-to-place benches for certain models — please check the product description on our website, which clearly states “Fully Assembled” in the title. Otherwise, rest assured that the assembly process is straightforward and designed to be completed by one person with basic hand tools.
Still have questions? Feel free to ask us for the specific model you’re interested in — we’ll confirm whether it’s pre-assembled or requires a bit of weekend handy work.
