Common Problems and Effective Solutions for urban benches

Do you sell replacement slats for your outdoor benches, in case one gets damaged?

Absolutely, I get this question a lot—especially after a long winter or a surprise storm. The short answer is: yes, we do sell replacement slats for most of our outdoor bench models.

You don't need to buy a whole new bench when a single slat cracks, warps, or gets a splinter. We design our benches with this in mind. Each slat is a standard, interchangeable component. Whether you have our classic wooden teak bench or the all-weather recycled plastic version, we keep a stock of matching slats ready to ship.

Here’s what you need to know to get the right one:

1. Check Your Bench Model

Look for a small label under the bench seat or on the back frame. It usually has a model number (e.g., "OB-300" or "Park-Select"). If you can’t find it, send us a photo of your bench from the side. We can match the slat profile and thickness from our library.

2. Ordering the Replacement

Once you confirm the model, you can order individual slats directly from our website’s "Parts & Repairs" section. They come pre-drilled with the correct bolt holes, so you just need a basic socket wrench or screwdriver to swap them out. No special tools required.

3. A Tip on Material

- For wood slats (teak, eucalyptus, or acacia): They are sold unfinished. You can apply a protective oil to match the existing patina, or leave them to weather naturally.

- For recycled plastic or HDPE slats: These are color-matched exactly to the original batch. They never need staining, just a simple wash with soapy water.

4. What if your model is discontinued?

Don’t worry. Even for older benches (up to 7 years old), we often still stock the standard 1.5-inch or 2-inch wide slats. If we no longer have the exact match, we can suggest a close alternative that fits the same bracket spacing.

The Bottom Line

Yes, you can definitely buy a single replacement slat—or a set if you want to refresh all of them at once. It’s cheaper, faster, and way more sustainable than tossing a perfectly good bench. Just measure your slat length and width (or tell us your model number), and we’ll get you back out on that patio in a week.
