Solid Wood: The Classic Beauty With a Hidden Thirst

Wood is the most common culprit when people picture cracking. It is naturally porous, and throughout autumn it acts like a silent sponge, soaking up rain and dew. When freezing temperatures arrive, that trapped water turns into ice, expanding by about 9% in volume.
