Great question — yes, our street benches are powder-coated specifically to resist chipping, peeling, and corrosion. I’ll explain how the process works and why it makes a difference for outdoor park benches and commercial street furniture.
The steel or aluminum frame is cleaned, pre-treated, and coated with a dry polyester powder. The bench then moves through a curing oven where the powder melts into a hard, even skin. This coating is much tougher than standard wet paint. It flexes slightly with the metal during temperature changes, so it is far less likely to crack or chip from everyday bumps, bike handlebars, shopping carts, or weather shifts.
Many of our models also receive a zinc-rich primer before the powder coat. That layer adds extra protection against rust if the surface is ever scratched. In high-moisture, coastal, or de-icing salt environments, that underlayer makes a noticeable difference. This is one reason our benches are considered rust-resistant benches for long-term outdoor use.
That said, no outdoor finish is completely indestructible. A hard, sharp impact can still gouge the coating. But under normal public use — sitting, leaning, occasional knocks — a powder-coated finish holds up significantly better than traditional paint. We recommend checking benches once or twice a year and touching up any deep scratches with a matching outdoor touch-up paint. That keeps the coating sealed and looking clean.
If you are placing benches near the ocean, in heavy sun, or in areas with salted roads, ask us about a marine-grade powder coat. It is formulated for extra UV and salt resistance. Just let our team know where the benches will be installed, and we will help you choose the right chip-resistant bench coating for your site.
We also offer replacement hardware and finish-matching paint for maintenance. With proper care, a powder-coated street bench should keep its color and protection for years without the flaking or dulling you often see with standard painted furniture.
