You absolutely can install a street bench on uneven pavement — you don’t need a perfectly flat surface, but you do need to plan for stability and safety. Most outdoor benches come with adjustable feet or leveling shims, and many can be anchored to concrete, asphalt, or pavers that have minor slopes, cracks, or height differences. The key is to level the bench after placing it. Use plastic or rubber shims under the legs to fill low spots, then check with a bubble level in both directions. If the slope is more than about 1 inch over the bench’s length, consider building a small leveling pad or choosing a bench with independently adjustable legs. For permanent installation, drill anchor holes and use wedge anchors or drop-in anchors with epoxy, but make sure each leg sits firmly on the ground or on a shim so the frame doesn’t twist. Avoid mounting on loose gravel, sand, or heavily buckled concrete that rocks when you sit. For moderate unevenness, a surface-mounted bench with discreet rubber pads usually works fine. Always test by sitting on both ends and the middle — if it wobbles, add another shim or reposition. In short, a perfectly flat surface is ideal but not required. With the right leveling hardware and a little patience, you can safely install a street bench on most uneven pavement.
