Common Problems and Effective Solutions for urban benches

What’s the shipping weight of a standard outdoor bench so I can plan pickup?

A standard outdoor bench typically has a shipping weight of about 40 to 90 pounds (18–41 kg), but the exact number depends on the material, size, and packaging.

Wooden benches, especially acacia or eucalyptus, usually ship around 50–80 pounds. Dense hardwoods like teak can push closer to 70–95 pounds. Metal benches vary widely: lightweight aluminum models may come in around 25–40 pounds, while steel and wrought iron benches often run 60–100+ pounds. Plastic, resin, or poly benches are the easiest to manage, typically shipping at 20–40 pounds.

Shipping weight includes the box, foam, cardboard, and sometimes a small pallet or wooden support frame. That packaging can add 5–15 pounds on top of the product's assembled weight. If a product page lists both "product weight" and "shipping weight," always use the shipping weight or gross weight for pickup planning.

For a smooth pickup, check the retailer's spec table for "shipping weight," "gross weight," or "package weight." If it's missing, call the store and ask for the boxed weight and package dimensions. Most standard outdoor benches fit in an SUV, minivan, or pickup bed with seats folded, but plan for a two-person lift once the box is above 60–70 pounds.
