The honest answer is that most of our street benches ship flat-packed, not fully assembled. That said, we do offer fully assembled delivery on request for select models, larger commercial orders, and project-specific needs.
Why flat-packed is our default
Street benches shipping flat-packed is our standard for good reason. A bench that is fully assembled takes up far more space on a pallet or truck, so you end up paying for space instead of product. By packing components tightly, we can fit more benches per pallet, reduce fuel use, and pass the savings on to you. Flat-packed benches are also easier to move through gates, narrow pathways, and tight urban spaces before assembly.
What arrives in the crate or carton
Depending on the material, your bench may arrive in a heavy-duty cardboard carton, wooden crate, or stretch-wrapped pallet. Inside, you will typically find pre-drilled seat slats or perforated metal seat panels, side frames or leg assemblies, center support bars, stainless steel or zinc-plated hardware, and printed bench assembly instructions. We pre-drill most holes in the factory, so you will not need a drill press or complicated jigs.
Assembly is simpler than most people expect
For a standard 6-foot bench, two people can usually complete assembly in 20 to 40 minutes using basic tools like a socket wrench, hex key, and a rubber mallet. The hardware is labeled or grouped by step. Some of our recycled plastic and metal slat benches use interlocking brackets, so the frame squares itself as you tighten the bolts.
When fully assembled delivery makes sense
If your project has a tight installation window, limited on-site labor, or you are coordinating a commercial bench delivery for a plaza or streetscape, fully assembled benches may be worth the extra freight cost. We commonly provide assembled units for municipal contracts, campus projects, and downtown improvement districts. Because fully assembled units require more space and more protective packaging, this option is quoted on a case-by-case basis.
How packaging protects your order
Flat-packed does not mean unprotected. We use foam corner guards, edge protectors, and moisture-resistant wrap to prevent scratches during transit. Cast iron and steel components are often coated with a light rust-preventive film. For fully assembled orders, we build custom crates or use padded pallet frames to keep each bench stable.
How to request assembled shipping
If you need your street benches to arrive ready to install, mention it when you request a quote or place your order. Our team will confirm which models are eligible, adjust the freight quote, and add the necessary crating. For smaller orders or residential-style benches, flat-packed is almost always the more practical and cost-effective choice.
