Great question. For a large courtyard, the longest urban bench we sell as a standard ready-to-order model is our 12 ft / 3.66 m Linear Court Bench. It is the one I usually recommend when you want a strong continuous seating element that does not look like a row of small benches pushed together. It seats five to six adults comfortably and still leaves enough visual breathing room at each end.
The overall length is 144 in, with a seat depth of 19.7 in and a seat height of 17.7 in. The frame is made from marine-grade powder-coated aluminum, and the seat slats are available in FSC-certified hardwood or thermally modified ash. All hardware is stainless steel, and we include adjustable leveling feet because large courtyard paving is rarely perfectly flat. There is a small drainage gap between each slat, which helps the bench dry quickly after rain.
If 12 ft is not long enough, we also offer a modular urban bench system that can be extended to 14 ft, 16 ft, 20 ft, or even 24 ft in a single connected run. The longest single-run modern urban bench we have produced for a commercial courtyard seating project was 24 ft with a hidden steel subframe. That option is built to order, so lead time is slightly longer, but it gives you the same clean sight line with no visual breaks.
One tip for a large courtyard: do not push an extra long outdoor bench tight against a wall or hedge. Leave about 18 to 24 in behind it so people can walk around easily and the space still feels open. If you want a true large courtyard bench that becomes the main gathering spot, I would start with the 12 ft Linear Court Bench, then look at the modular lengths if you need more coverage.
