Yes — our outdoor benches are treated to resist mold and mildew, and humid areas are one of the first things we design for. It is not just a quick surface spray. We start with materials that naturally fight fungal growth, such as kiln-dried teak, acacia, and eucalyptus. These woods contain natural oils, and we add a breathable water-repellent sealant so moisture cannot sit on the surface or soak into the grain.
For our poly lumber and HDPE benches, the boards are solid polymer. They do not absorb water the way wood does, so mildew and mold have very little to feed on. Powder-coated aluminum and stainless steel frames add another layer of protection by resisting rust and not trapping dampness around joints or fasteners.
If you live in a very humid or rainy climate, a little seasonal care helps the treatment last even longer. Wash the bench with mild soap and water, keep air moving around it, and for wooden benches, reapply a breathable wood protector once or twice a year. This keeps the weatherproof finish intact and prevents spores from settling into the grain.
So yes — the benches are treated, but the real protection comes from the combination of the right materials, protective sealants, and simple maintenance. That is what keeps mold and mildew from taking hold.
