URBAN BENCHES

Honestly, it depends on the manufacturer and the specific bench model. Most standard urban benches sold for public spaces come with a structural warranty that covers defects in workmanship and materials, but rust and corrosion from environmental factors like city salt are almost always excluded. Salt is considered an aggressive external agent, and no powder coating or galvanized finish can fully guarantee against it forever. That said, some higher-end manufacturers do offer optional corrosion warranties if you pay extra and follow strict maintenance schedules. For example, benches with marine-grade stainless steel or hot-dip galvanized frames might carry a limited rust-through warranty of 5 to 10 years, but the fine print usually says it does not apply in coastal or heavy de-icing salt zones unless you clean the bench regularly. If you are buying benches for a city that salts roads and sidewalks heavily, I would ask the supplier directly for a written corrosion warranty. Do not accept a verbal promise. Also ask about the finish type: a thermoset polyester powder coat over galvanized steel performs much better than standard paint. Some brands like Maglin, Landscape Forms, or DuMor have specific salt-spray test ratings, and they may extend the frame warranty if you document annual rinsing. But even then, the warranty usually covers perforation rust, not surface rust or cosmetic corrosion. So the short answer: standard urban benches do not include salt corrosion coverage, but upgraded materials and add-on warranties can give you some protection if you maintain them properly. My advice is to compare at least three commercial-grade benches, read the warranty clauses side by side, and ask each vendor to confirm in writing how they handle salt exposure claims.
