This creates a shield far superior to traditional paint, preventing salt from reaching the metal beneath. It’s a tough, resilient finish designed to resist chipping, fading, and the relentless assault of salty air.
Marine-Grade Stainless Steel: For components like fasteners and structural supports in some designs, we use marine-grade stainless steel (typically 316 grade). This alloy contains molybdenum, which provides extreme resistance to pitting and corrosion from chlorides—exactly what you find in sea air.
Of course, "maintenance-free" doesn't mean "ignore it completely." To ensure your bench lasts for decades, a simple rinse with fresh water every few weeks will wash away salt buildup. A gentle soap cleaning every season will keep it looking pristine.
