The smooth, hard finish makes it difficult for paint to adhere permanently, and most graffiti can be removed with a pressure washer or mild solvent without damaging the bench. Another excellent option is high-density polyurethane or recycled plastic lumber. These materials are non-porous, so spray paint sits on the surface and can often be wiped off with a graffiti remover. For added protection, many manufacturers offer an anti-graffiti coating—a clear, protective layer applied over the bench. If graffiti occurs, you simply use a specific cleaner; the coating and graffiti wash away, and then you reapply the protective layer. When choosing a bench, also look for a minimalist design with fewer crevices and edges, as these are harder for vandals to tag effectively.
