A degreaser can help remove grime. Rinse well and let it dry completely. Next, apply a rust-inhibiting primer. Choose a primer specifically designed for metal and rust prevention. Spray primers are excellent for reaching the intricate undersides and hard-to-reach spots. Apply a thin, even coat and allow it to dry as per the manufacturer's instructions.
