For stubborn mildew, add a tablespoon of baking soda to enhance cleaning power. Liberally spray the solution onto the affected areas and let it sit for 10-15 minutes to penetrate the mildew. Use a soft-bristled brush or non-abrasive sponge to gently scrub the surface, working in circular motions. Rinse thoroughly with a garden hose or clean water. For persistent stains, a diluted bleach solution (1 cup bleach per gallon of water) can be used cautiously—always test on a small hidden area first. After cleaning, dry the bench completely with a microfiber cloth to prevent immediate regrowth. To maintain your bench, apply a UV-protectant vinyl cleaner monthly during peak seasons and store it under cover during extended wet periods.
