Thank you for asking—it’s a very practical question when setting up outdoor seating. The short answer is: most of our outdoor benches are sold without cushions or pads included. They are designed as durable, all-weather pieces that can be used with or without padding, depending on your comfort preference and climate.
Why we sell them separately:
1. Customization – Everyone has different taste. Some people love a thick, plush cushion for lounging, while others prefer a firm, low-profile pad or even no padding at all. By keeping benches and cushions separate, you get to choose exactly what works for your space.
2. Weather and maintenance – Outdoor cushions can degrade faster than the bench itself, especially in direct sun or rain. If we included them, you’d have to replace the whole bench when the cushion wears out. Buying separate means you can replace just the pad or choose a waterproof, UV-resistant fabric later.
3. Fit versatility – Our benches come in standard sizes (e.g., 48″, 60″, 72″ widths), and we offer a range of matching cushions and pads designed to fit them perfectly. You can check our “Outdoor Cushions” or “Bench Pads” category for options that match your bench’s dimensions.
What we recommend:
- Measure first – Always measure the length, depth, and thickness of your bench seat. Most of our pads are around 2–4 inches thick, with ties or non-slip backing to keep them in place.
- Material matters – Look for cushions labeled “all-weather,” “quick-dry foam,” or “polyester with UV protection.” Avoid cotton or memory foam outdoors—they soak up moisture and get moldy.
- Buying bundles – Some of our sets include a bench + 2 matching cushions if you scroll down the product page. But yes, in most cases, you will need to add the pads to your cart separately.
If you’re unsure about the exact fit, drop us a message with your bench model or dimensions, and we can point you to the perfect pad option. We want you to enjoy your outdoor space without any guesswork!
