Plastic or recycled lumber benches (like HDPE) are virtually rot-proof and often carry a lifetime warranty against structural failure.
That said, the warranty doesn’t cover improper use or lack of care. For instance, if you leave a wooden bench submerged in water or fail to reapply sealant as recommended, the warranty may be void. Rust or rot from scratches, dents, or chemical exposure (like salt near the ocean) also isn’t covered.
