Great question. The short answer is it depends on the bench model. Many of our urban benches do ship with pre-drilled holes in the base plates or mounting feet, especially heavy-duty steel and ductile iron benches designed for public spaces. These holes make it much easier to bolt the bench directly to a concrete pad using wedge anchors or sleeve anchors. That said, not every bench comes pre-drilled. Some timber and aluminum benches are shipped blank so installers can drill their own hole pattern to match existing anchors or unusual slab layouts. If you want a true out-of-the-box installation, check the product page under Specifications or look for the wording pre-drilled mounting holes included. If a model does not include them, drilling is straightforward. Use a hammer drill with a carbide-tipped masonry bit, mark the base plate hole positions, and drill to the anchor manufacturer’s recommended depth. Never drill through seat slats unless the manufacturer confirms it is safe, since that can crack timber or void the warranty.
