Great question. If you have long legs, I would skip our standard 16–18 inch deep benches and go straight to the 24-inch deep-seat outdoor bench. That is currently the deepest seat depth we offer, measured from the front edge of the seat to the backrest. It gives your thighs full support and stops that “perching on a ledge” feeling that taller people often get on shallow benches.
For reference, most standard outdoor benches sit around 16 to 18 inches deep. That works for average heights, but if you are over about 6’2” or have long femurs, you will probably feel a big difference at 22 to 24 inches. Our 24-inch model is the one I recommend first because it still works with standard seat heights, so your feet can rest flat on the ground while your upper legs stay supported.
One thing I always tell customers: do not just look at the number. Check the seat height too. A deep seat with a very high seat height can leave shorter users dangling, but for long legs this is rarely the problem. Also leave a small gap behind your knees when you sit back—about one to two inches is comfortable.
If 24 inches still does not feel deep enough, we do not currently stock a deeper standard outdoor bench, but we can discuss a custom deep-seat order or adding deep seat cushions. For most long-legged buyers, though, the 24-inch depth is the sweet spot.
