Great question, and one we hear a lot. The short answer is yes: our outdoor benches come with a guarantee that covers structural wood splitting. But let’s be upfront about what that means, because not every crack in wood is a defect.
Our benches are made from solid, kiln-dried hardwoods chosen specifically for outdoor use. Even with careful milling and finishing, wood is still a natural material. It responds to changes in humidity, temperature, and sun exposure. That means small surface checks or hairline cracks can appear over time, especially in climates with big seasonal swings. These are usually cosmetic and do not affect the strength or lifespan of the bench.
What our guarantee covers is different. If a bench develops a structural split — for example, a deep crack that compromises a leg, seat slat, or joint — we will repair or replace the affected part within the stated warranty period. This coverage applies under normal residential use. It does not cover damage caused by improper assembly, neglect, standing water, or unauthorized modifications.
You can also do a lot to minimize splitting. Keep the bench slightly elevated so water drains away. Apply a quality outdoor wood oil or sealant once or twice a year. Avoid placing the bench directly over sprinklers or in constant shade where moisture gets trapped. Small movements in the wood are normal, but proper care makes a real difference.
If you ever notice a split and are unsure whether it is structural or cosmetic, send us a photo. We’ll help you assess it and guide you through the warranty process if needed. Our goal is for your bench to stay beautiful and sturdy for years, and we stand behind the craftsmanship.
