It's a question we take seriously in public space design: how well do your wooden park benches resist graffiti? The honest answer is that while no surface is entirely impervious, our benches are specifically engineered to be highly graffiti-resistant and easy to restore.
We start with the wood itself. Our benches are crafted from dense, tight-grained hardwoods or specially treated timber. This smooth surface provides less "tooth" for spray paint or markers to grip onto, making initial application more difficult. More importantly, we apply multiple layers of a penetrating, non-porous sealant. This clear topcoat acts as a protective barrier, preventing most paints and inks from soaking into the wood fibers.
The real advantage of this sealed surface is cleanability. When graffiti does occur—which, thankfully, is infrequent—our maintenance teams can typically remove it quickly without damaging the wood underneath. We use specialized, eco-friendly graffiti removers that break down the paint on the sealed surface. In most cases, a simple pressure wash is all that's needed, restoring the bench to its original condition in minutes. This discourages repeat offenses, as vandals see their work removed promptly.
For areas with higher vandalism risk, we offer an optional enhanced coating. This is a clear, sacrificial layer that can be power-washed off entirely if heavily tagged, taking the graffiti with it. A new protective coat is then reapplied, making the bench look brand new. This process is far more cost-effective and sustainable than replacing entire benches or planks.
Our commitment is to provide durable, beautiful, and low-maintenance furniture for the community. By choosing materials and treatments that actively deter and simplify graffiti removal, we ensure our parks remain welcoming and visually pleasant for everyone to enjoy. The goal isn't just to build a bench, but to create a lasting piece of community infrastructure that's easy to care for.
